Although this cake is not an Italian original (despite its name), it should be!  It is a favorite among many, especially in the southern region of the U.S., and one can understand why.  Famous for its toasted pecans and shredded coconut imbedded in 4 layers of rich, moist, buttermilk crumb.  Each layer is coated with a luscious, vanilla-almond cream cheese frosting and finished with an adornment of toasted shredded coconut.   It's no wonder that this dessert is highly sought-after!
